We in Scoíl Ghleanna Maghair Ìochtaraigh are delighted with the wonderful progress that Mayfield Intermediate Football team have made in this year’s championship. We are proud of our past pupils David O’Neill, Darren Hayes and Sean O’Sullivan and we wish them and the team the very best in the final. Students from the ardmháistirs class and Mr Crowley’s class went on their ‘maths walk’ today. The highlight of which was their trip to the shop. As the students walked to the village of Glanmire their eyes were peeled for maths in the environs – shapes, numbers etc. Before leaving the school, the children counted their money. When they reached the shop they decided on their purchases based on the amount of money each student had. They then closely examined their change and receipts. Maths week is proving extremely enjoyable for the students.
Students were busy baking beautiful chocolate chip sponge cake and queen cakes today. The students were using their maths knowledge – measuring, weighing & time. The students are preparing for the cake sale tomorrow when their knowledge of money will be in full use! 6th class students have organised a range of maths games for tomorrow and staff have finalised their plans for maths walks/trails and a trip to the shop for many classes next week.
Junior and Senior Infants planted some daffodil bulbs in our school garden this week.

Students and staff are preparing for maths week – students will partake in baking, cake sales, maths games, maths trails & maths quizzes.
A cake sale will be organised by 6th Class this Friday 10th October. We would appreciate if people could donate cakes to this event.
Ms Breen’s class have spent September getting to know each other. They have been painting pictures of their summer holidays and have also done some leaf printing. They have played with lego, the kitchen and other construction toys. They have learned matching, counting and sorting.
Well done to our footballers who won their match yesterday against Millstreet.
