Attendance and Punctuality

School hours are from 9.15am to 2pm for Junior & Senior Infants and 9.15am to 3pm for First to Sixth classes.

Punctuality: Pupils are expected to be on the school premises in time to line up for class each morning.

If a child is consistently late, a formal notice of this poor punctuality will be sent to the child’s parents. Being punctual ensures that others are not affected by disturbance. However we accept that parents can understandably have reasons to be late on occasion.

Parents are reminded that there is no supervision in the school grounds before 9:00am or after 2pm for Junior & Senior Infants and after 3pm from First and Sixth Classes. Parents are responsible for their children after these times.

Parents are asked to say goodbye to their children in their line and let the teacher take them into their classroom.

Attendance/Absences

Attendance/Absences: All absences or early departures must be explained in writing by parents / guardians. Parents / Guardians are requested to try not to make medical or dental appointments during school hours, if possible, or to organise family holidays during school terms. Each absence must be explained by letter from a parent/guardian when the pupil returns to school stating the reason for the absence. This is in accordance with the Education & Welfare Act 2000. The Dept of Education and Skills requires the names of pupils absent for over 20 days in a school year.School grounds: Pupils may not leave grounds without permission.
